Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
|
ReflectionIt can be difficult as an educator with limited time to continuously adjust and change communication to fit with new technologies and tools. It is often easier to default back to the same way of doing things year in and year out because of limited time and resources. As I get older, I am also recognizing that it takes more time for me each year to learn new technologies and requires more of an investment of my own time. Despite all of that, it is important for all of us in this field to model best practices in alignment with this standard, and to reflect what healthy, effective, collaborative use of digital tools looks like in education.
My first artifact is a link to my blogfolio for Digital Communications, which includes reviews of many different communication tools. Several of those tools were new to me, and I implemented a couple of them into my teaching after taking this course. It was a good challenge to consider these diverse tools. My second artifact was a research proposal that would look at some teams at my employer and see what leads to success among those teams. Most of the research would be centered around how the teams collaborate and communicate now that they are all working remotely, which would lead to a lot of knowledge around how to improve digital collaboration and communication. The third artifact is an analysis of a qualitative study that found a link between major organizational change and illness among workers. This artifact fit here, because the difference in those organizations that successfully navigate change, and those that do not and have burned out, sick employees, is effective communication before, during, and after the change. It is important to implement this standard at all levels of an organization in order to thrive. |
