Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity

ReflectionIn the early years of instructional technology implementation, it was common for technology to be used as an expensive workbook. Assignments were simply moved from paper to computers, without integrating creative thinking or higher order thinking skills. It is vital to require more of our instructional technology use, and as part of this program I was able to explore many ways to better integrate creativity and collaboration into online and blended learning courses.
The first artifact I selected for this standard was a tutorial I made for Poll Everywhere. This reflects the standard both in the creation of a tutorial that can help guide students, but also using interactive polling such as this tool helps to integrate student feedback into courses, and improves student reflection. For my second artifact, I included the blogfolio that has links to numerous interactive instructional media projects that I made for IT 740. This included many tools for engaging and including students in the creative process. Finally, I included a proposal for a web-based course. This reflects my understanding of the work that must go into the planning process for online learning to effectively meet this standard and be effective at engaging students. |
